Join, over Facebook Live, Mr. Bryan Fair, Chairman of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Board of Directors, in this conversation with Xavier Ramey of Justice Informed, as they unpack the intersectional challenges that led to the disproportionate rate of COVID-19 deaths in African-American communities, and how we can reimagine an America where these preventable tragedies do not occur.

COVID-19 is a tragedy. The disparate impact of its deadliness on African-American communities is not. It is a preventable tragedy that in places such as Chicago, of the first 100 people to die of COVID-10, 70 were black residents of the city. This is not an exception. Across America, race serves as a valuable predictor of mortality, as many continue to ignore the racialization of death.

Presented by the Rotary Club of Maywood-Proviso and Justice Informed.
