HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF FUND

We have learned that two great ways to assist in the recovery are donations to one group that will provide immediate help – ShelterBox, and to a Donor-Advised Fund set up for disaster relief through the Rotary Foundation - Rotary District 7680 DAF No. 574, for the benefit of the Bahamas.

The District 6450 Board has authorized making a lead gift of $5,000 for hurricane Dorian disaster relief, with $2,500 going to ShelterBox and $2,500 going to The Rotary Foundation DAF, Rotary District 7680 DAF No. 574, for the benefit of the Bahamas.

For your convenience, the Charitable Foundation of Rotary 6450 will accept donations for disaster relief through its Charitable Foundation, and all funds collected will be distributed 50% to ShelterBox and 50% to the Rotary Foundation Donor Advised Fund benefiting the Bahamas.    Checks can be submitted to:

WHAT IS THE ROTARY FOUNDATION?
The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary.  We are off to an exciting year with 19 District Clubs sponsoring Global Grants in 17 countries around the world: USA, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya, Senegal, Sierra Leone, India, Lithuania, Slovakia, UK. We congratulate the following Sponsor Clubs for new global grants recently approved by The Rotary Foundation: Rotary Club of Chicago Southeast for “EmceeSkool-Building Community Peace Ambassadors Using Spoken Word (Chicago)” and Rotary Club of Darien for “Simple School for Quimistan (Honduras)” We are excited that 4 more global grants sponsored by our Clubs have been submitted for approval and many more are being developed. What an extraordinary effort to transform many lives thanks to our members and the matching funds from The Rotary Foundation!

Global Grants Management Seminar: October 5 from 9:30 am – 12 pm at Primera in Lisle. If your club is considering doing a Global Grant this year, we strongly encourage you and your team to come to the Global Grants Management Seminar. The training will cover: the Global Grants process, new requirements and guidelines, how to use the Grant Center, developing "reverse" global grants for local projects, your specific grants questions.
We invite global grant teams, clubs interested in funding global grants, international service committee members, foundation chairs, club officers, district leaders and ANYONE who wants to Do Good in the World to participate. EVERYONE is invited to this FREE program!

Polio Update: As of August 21, 2019, it has been three years since a child in Nigeria was paralyzed by the wild poliovirus. This means that the entire World Health Organization (WHO) African region could be certified as wild poliovirus-free as soon as mid-2020. Along with Rotary's Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners and the Nigerian government, the immunization and disease detection systems have been strengthened, and we are now reaching more children than ever in some of the hardest-to-reach places in Nigeria.
